Karaoki Kanye
. . Music Theatre for 8 voices and computer
What is served to the audience is a steady drive of automatic vocal lines building up over a text from the Karaoki technical manual and appropriated text fragments from hip hop prose.

The evolving project we call Karaoki Kanye is at this stage a modular 3 hour music and theatre performance that quickly jumps from short movie dialogues to folkloric interventions which glue together the musical sections of vocal and electronic music composed by Vega for Club Gewalt and its many talents.
With each piece the group is trying to comment on popular culture sometimes indirectly in that a scene can quote a movie while another can quote a movie technical manual. This level of detachment only serves to isolate the pop specimen and look at it for what it is or what its gutteral insides might be made of.
The results are always high power electric performances with deep afterthoughts.
